Educating to Family Values

Pope Francis, in his recent letter Amoris Laetitia, reminds Catholic schools of their vital role in assisting parents in their duty to raise their children, and encourages them in their mission to enable pupils grow into mature adults who can view the world with God’s love and who can understand life as a call to serve God.

Our educational institutions need to take up the challenge to educate youngsters to family values, through a process of growth in self-knowledge and self-control capable of nurturing valuable capacities for joy and for loving encounter. Educators should progressively impart knowledge, at a proper time and in a way suited to their age, keeping in mind that children and young people have not yet attained full maturity. (Amoris Laetitia, 279-286)

The Education to Family Values project aims to provide Catholic schools with adequate resources to enable educators to take up the challenging task of imparting holistic education to their students, in close collaboration with their parents.
